Wow, well this game is great. After its preceeder, Super Smash Bros.’s success it was clear to Nintendo that it had to come out quickly. This game was a huge success. The game improved in what it needed which was single player mode and also everything else
You don’t see a game like this too much. It has everything you need so let’s us start with that first. The first thing is that if you are a lone gamer or don’t have too many friends who come over then this will be a treat. First you have classic mode like in the first game where you fight characters to move on, but now they have added adventure mode in where you can fight in side scrolling action which any gamer would drool for. After that you have events to finish. There are ten of them which you start off with and as you continue to beat them you will have to unlock various things to get to the final event which in event 51. Then you have another mode in where you can fight in different kinds of melee’s. Like you can fight 100 melee fighters, or fight them for 10 minutes. Finally you can have training in where you practice moves. It is fun. From all of this you have to unlock 11 secret characters brining the character number up to 25. You have to get nearly 300 trophies and you can unlock many arena’s. This will last any gamer a very long time.
Never fear, the versus mode is still awesome. You can of course fight like the original way, which is just battling, but the biggest change is there is a mode in where you can do many special things like make everyone big, make everyone small, and things like that.
The game play is very nicely even though there are 25 characters. You would expect that all the characters overlap with the same attacks, but I’ve got to say Nintendo did a nice job with having most of the characters different. Yes I admit some of the secret ones are like some of the original ones like Falco and Fox and Link and Young Link, but it is still fun to see the differences. There are many moves to use like the basic punch and kick, the grab and body slam, the smash attack and then combing all of this. From combining them you will have many different moves to choose from. The control is fabulous. It is a little harder to start with, but gets a much easier. The GC controller is very good, but I still would prefer the N64 one.
If you still need graphics and sound after all of this then you are still getting that too. The graphics could have been better, but hey I can’t complain. The sound is good and has many old songs which is very refreshing.
Super Smash is a must have game and is a much better party game then Mario Party 4 which I will have to review later on this year... Anyway without this game you will be missing out on a lot of fun and we don’t want that to happen.
